The Sumber Jaya small-scale hydro power plant (MHPP) is being developed by PT Adimitra Energi Hidro (AEH), as part of PT Adimitra Hidro Nusantara (AHN) and PT Toba Bara Energi (TBAE) portfolio. The project is a small-scale hydro power facility with a planned capacity of 2x3 MW. MHPP Sumber Jaya in Lampung province is set to increase the electrification ratio in the area. It will utilize the Way Besay River through the run of river (ror) system.

Technical Specification - Hydrology

  • MHPP Sumber Jaya utilizes water from Way Besay River with a catchment area of around 346 km2 as the proposed weir.
  • The catchment area was reported to be in good condition, consisting mainly of protected forests and perennial farming areas.
  • Average rainfall is between 3,758 and 3,950 mm per year. Rainfall data was collected between 2008 and 2018 at the nearest observation stations, namely Way Tenong Station and Bukit Kemuning, to be used to estimate average annual rainfall and river discharge. Rainfall data from both stations will be utilized in the low flow analysis using the FJ Mock and NRECA methods. Meanwhile, the regional mean rainfall is obtained with the Thiessen method by using the 10 years discharge climate data from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) in Kotabumi.

Indonesia has established its commitment to renewable energy with the 10-year electricity procurement plan (RUPTL) for 2021-2030, which opens lucrative investment opportunities. The government has shown its initiative by reducing the production of coal-fired power plants (PLTU) while aiming for 22 percent of the nation’s energy mix to be renewable by 2025. This underscores the country’s increasing efforts and potential growth in the renewable energy market.
